A Model Recommends: Rescue Beauty Box

Anyone who knows me will know of my love for Ruth Crilly, the woman behind A Model Recommends. I’ve followed her blog for YEARS! Ruth started working as a model in 2001 and has obviously built up a colossal amount of knowledge about beauty and fashion during that time. She’s always been my go-to-girl for product reviews and she’s pretty much bob on with the products that really suit me, so I think I may have let out a squeal when I found out that she was launching two beauty boxes with the online beauty retailer Feel Unique.

I had a quick skim over the two boxes, there’s a Rescue Box £30 and an Indulgence Box £45, and plumped for the Rescue box as it’s skincare heavy and that’s what I’m more into. Also, my skin has been seriously suffering over the winter – I’m blaming the central heating and harsh winds rather than my appalling post-Christmas diet.

I wanted to wait until I’d had the box for a while before I reviewed it, so I had the chance to really get to know the products and I’ve been really impressed. For the £30 price tag it’s AMAZING. So here are my thoughts:

L’Oreal Paris Revitalift Cicacrem Anti-Wrinkle Cream 40ml

I’ve really enjoyed using this moisturiser, it feels really light on the skin and smells lovely. It’s really helped with any dryness caused by the aforementioned heating, winds and chill over the past few weeks. I was worried that it might be a bit greasy or feel heavy as it’s anti-wrinkle, but that’s totally not the case.

Balance Me Restore and Replenish Cream Cleanser 125ml

This smells gorgeous, like a trip to the spa. The cream feels really light and fresh and helps remove mascara really well, which is a massive bonus. I’ve never found anything that actually does this efficiently apart from Liz Earle’s Hot Cloth Cleanser, but the Balance Me cleanser gives that one a real run for its money and I actually prefer the smell of this one.

Lanolips 101 Ointment Fruities – Strawberry 10g

To be honest I haven’t really used this as I don’t get dry lips, but it smells yummy and the packaging is cute. It’s in my handbag for a lip balm emergency.

NIP+FAB Exfoliate Glycolic Fix Gentle Pads Sensitive 80ml

These are really good if you have sensitive skin as some glycolic pads are like sandblasting your face, so I get why Ruth added the sensitive version to the box. I kind of want these kind of pads to tingle a bit though and these ones don’t do that, but they do make your face smoother and brighter with a quick wipe and what’s not to like about that? Also handy to stick on any spots you’ve squeezed to try and get them to shrink. I know, I know…

Color Wow One Minute Transformation Styling Cream 30ml

I’ve been using this on wet hair and giving it a good brush through before I blow dry and it’s AMAZING, totally brilliant. I swear my hair dries faster and it also helps to keep the dreaded frizz at bay. This is probably my favourite item in the box. I’d never heard of Color Wow before, but I must check out what else they have to offer.

Magnitone London WipeOut! The Amazing MicroFibre Cleansing Cloth x1

Now, I don’t know what kind of witchcraft is happening with this cloth, but it really does take your makeup off with just water. This is a travel size cloth and I think I’m going to get the full size one as I’m really impressed with it. It feels really fluffy and it’s a bit like wiping your face with a furry cat. At first I was a bit like ‘what the hell?’ but I love it now and need to stock up on some more. I use this with the Balance Me cleanser as I’ve got the cleanser/flannel routine ingrained in my brain now, but you can remove your make up with the cloth first and then cleanse, or cleanse and then cloth if you want to go for the double whammy.

So that’s all folks. Overall I’m really impressed with the quality of products in this box and I’ve found a few items that I’d never have tried before that are now vital to my regime. For £30, you can’t really go wrong. This box has been so carefully thought out for a great ‘start to finish’ routine that should suit most skin types. You can get your mitts on it here.
